NAPLES, FLA. (JULY 28, 2025) — Robert J. Zehr, MD, of the Zehr Center for Orthopaedics, now offers robotic-assisted total knee replacement utilizing Zimmer Biomet’s ROSA® Knee System, which brings together robotic technology with industry-leading knee implants to help surgeons personalize surgical procedures for their patients. Dr. Zehr recently attended a special training course in Montreal, Canada, where he was the first surgeon from Southwest Florida to be certified in the upgraded ROSA software system, due to be released this fall.
“The ROSA system uses data collected before and during surgery to inform the surgeon of many details related to the patient’s unique anatomy that may affect their implant fit. By using this data to make more informed decisions, the surgeon can plan for and carry out a personalized surgery based on the patient’s individual needs,” Dr. Zehr explained. “Getting a precise knee implant fit is important to the patient’s comfort, recovery, and overall experience following knee implant surgery,” he added.

Robotic-assisted surgery is not new to Dr. Zehr. He began offering MAKOplasty® robotic arm-assisted partial knee replacement surgery 10 years ago. It was also at that time that he performed the first outpatient total hip replacement in Southwest Florida. A leading innovator in joint replacement surgery, Dr. Zehr is excited to bring this technology to his qualified patients. “Even after more than 35 years of practice, I endeavor to stay on the leading edge of advancements in the field of orthopaedics. I always have,” Zehr says. “That’s also why I brought regenerative medicine to my practice, beginning in 2015 with A2M plasma therapy for knee osteoarthritis.”
Dr. Zehr joins an elite group of Southwest Florida orthopaedic surgeons who have invested in the specialized training required to become certified in the ROSA® Knee System. At this time, only six other orthopaedic surgeons in the Naples area and 11 in the Ft. Myers area are certified by Zimmer Biomet.
