NAPLES, Fla. (October 27, 2020) – The Zehr Center for Orthopaedics is expanding its non-surgical treatment of orthopaedic conditions to include regenerative medicine. Over the next several months, Robert J. Zehr, MD, will introduce stem cell therapy and exosome therapy programs into his Naples-based practice.
“I have been watching the science for years now and have come to appreciate the advancements made in the field of orthobiologics. I was the first surgeon in Southwest Florida to offer A-2-M therapy for knee osteoarthritis and have derived value from the plasma treatment in my own arthritic knee!” Dr. Zehr declares. “We are expanding our options to help a patient delay or avoid surgery all together, by employing naturally occurring biologics such as stem cell derivatives that may help patients heal their degenerative joints,” adds Dr. Zehr.
While he cautions that these therapies may not be successful, as standalone treatments, for everyone, Dr. Zehr explains that even traditional surgery patients can benefit, “The outcomes for surgery are highly contingent on the patient’s ability to heal and complete therapy. That ability can be leveraged in their favor by adding regenerative medicine products as a natural complement to their orthopaedic care.”
